The Cardinal Tetra (Paracheirodon axelrodi) is a beginner-level freshwater aquarium resident from Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela. It reaches about 2 inches and should be kept in tanks of at least 15 gallons.
Keep water near pH 4.8-6.8, temperature 75-84F, and hardness 2-12 dH. Feed omnivore, flakes, micro pellets with 1-2 small feedings daily.
Cardinal Tetras are peaceful schooling fish that feel safest in groups of at least 6. They work best with calm tank mates that share similar water parameters.
