About FishCompat
FishCompat helps aquarium keepers answer one practical question: can these two freshwater species live together? The site combines structured care data with compatibility rules and editorial review.
Methodology
Compatibility starts with objective overlap: temperature, pH, hardness, adult size, tank size, swim level, and schooling needs. Then FishCompat applies curated overrides for known exceptions such as fin nippers, snail-eating loaches, predatory cichlids, and species that are best kept alone.
Data Sources
Species data is prepared from open references such as FishBase, GBIF, Encyclopedia of Life, and Wikimedia-style sources, with original editorial care notes. Launch images are generated FishCompat bitmap illustrations while the site is prepared for future licensed species photography.
Corrections
Aquarium keeping depends on individual fish, tank size, aquascape, and maintenance. Use FishCompat as planning guidance, not a guarantee. Send corrections to the contact email in the footer.
