Severum Care Guide
The Severum (Heros efasciatus) is a intermediate-level freshwater aquarium resident from Brazil, Peru. It reaches about 9.8 inches and should be kept in tanks of at least 55 gallons.
Keep water near pH 6-7.5, temperature 75-84F, and hardness 3-14 dH. Feed omnivore, cichlid pellets, frozen food with 1-2 times daily.
Severums need tank mates chosen around temperament, territory, and adult size. Provide line-of-sight breaks and avoid fish small enough to be swallowed.
